In January of 1929, Father Carse took the initial steps for the beginning of our school. On January 26, 1929, he purchased land from Mary and Joseph Petraoicz, lot number 5 (from plot 56 of the original town of Charleston as surveyed on May 8, 1837). Then on July 2, 1929 after he purchased lot number 6 from Bernard Snelting he was able to begin the actual construction of his life-long dream, a Catholic School in Saint Charles! 

The school opened on the Feast of the Epiphany, January 6th, 1930 with a mass celebrated in honor of the Holy Spirit and classes were held for the first time in the new parish school on the same day. 187 pupils were enrolled. The school was staffed with Adrian Dominican Sisters. The first Dominican Sisters to teach here at St. Patrick's were: Sister Felicitas, Principal, Sister Jean Catherine, Sister Martin Marie, Sister Ann and Sister Margaret Edward.

The enrollment consisted of pupils not only from the St. Charles area but also from Batavia, Elburn, Geneva and West Chicago as well. Father Carse had purchased the property for the convent from Frank Siliunas on November 21, 1929 and the convent was completed and ready for the Sisters to move in on January 13, 1930.

The new parish school was solemnly dedicated by Bishop Edward F. Hoban on Sunday, May 11, 1930. It is interesting to note that the master of ceremonies, assisting Bishop Hoban at the dedication was Father Walter J. Ryan, the future pastor of St. Patrick's Parish who would come eventually and build the addition to the school.

In januari 1929 zette pater Carse de eerste stappen voor de oprichting van deze school. Op 26 januari 1929 kocht hij land van Mary en Joseph Petraoicz, perceel nummer 5 (van perceel 56 van de oorspronkelijke stad Charleston, zoals onderzocht op 8 mei 1837). Toen, op 2 juli 1929, nadat hij kavel nummer 6 van Bernard Snelting had gekocht, kon hij beginnen met de daadwerkelijke bouw van zijn levenslange droom, een katholieke school in Saint Charles!

De school werd geopend op het feest van Driekoningen, 6 januari 1930, met een mis gevierd ter ere van de Heilige Geest en op dezelfde dag werden voor het eerst lessen gehouden in de nieuwe parochieschool. Er waren 187 leerlingen ingeschreven. De school werd bemand met Adrian Dominican Sisters. De eerste zusters Dominicanessen die hier op St. Patrick's lesgaven, waren: zuster Felicitas, directeur, zuster Jean Catherine, zuster Martin Marie, zuster Ann en zuster Margaret Edward.

De inschrijving bestond niet alleen uit leerlingen uit St. Charles en omgeving, maar ook uit Batavia, Elburn, Genève en West Chicago. Pater Carse had het pand voor het klooster op 21 november 1929 van Frank Siliunas gekocht en het klooster was voltooid en gereed voor de intrek van de zusters op 13 januari 1930.

De nieuwe parochieschool werd plechtig ingewijd door bisschop Edward F. Hoban op zondag 11 mei 1930. Het is interessant om op te merken dat de ceremoniemeester, die bisschop Hoban assisteerde bij de inwijding, pater Walter J. Ryan was, de toekomstige predikant van St. Patrick's Parish die uiteindelijk zou komen en de toevoeging aan de school zou bouwen
